A Slice of the Good Life: The 6th Annual Pizza Klatch Gayla

Please join us for A Slice of the Good Life, our joyous 6th Annual Gayla, a community SHELL-ebration and fundraiser organized by and benefiting Pizza Klatch! This year’s Gayla is themed “The Coast is Queer” and will be hosted by bi-coastal burlesque performer, PIZZA MERMAID! Also featuring performances by hilarious stand-up comedian SOLOMON GEORGIO and RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 9 runner up, actress and Broadway star, PEPPERMINT! PLUS performances and stories from Pizza Klatch youth! A silent auction and prize raffle with locally resourced treasures! Our annual Raise the Paddle fundraiser! An enchanting “Under the Sea” themed photo booth! And of course, pizza! You can be SHORE it will be a good time for a great cause, so we hope to SEA you there!Doors are at 6 PM, the main stage show begins at 7:30 PM. Our very popular VIP Reception catered by Dillinger’s will also feature a special meet and greet with the performers as well as feature an exclusive private performance from Seattle-based singer/songwriter, Champagne Honeybee! PEPPERMINT

Peppermint is a trailblazing actress, singer, DJ, reality star, and activist who defies limitations. A longtime key figure in queer nightlife, Peppermint’s star rose thanks to her smashing success as the first out trans contestant on Rupaul’s Drag Race where she finished as runner-up in one of the series’ most-talked-about finales. Soon after, her talent led her to become the first trans woman to originate a principal role on Broadway in the hit musical Head Over Heels.

As an activist, Peppermint has raised six-figure sums for prominent LGBT rights groups, partnered with the MAC Cosmetics AIDS Fund and is involved in the HIV Vaccine trials network. She is particularly concerned about the challenges faced by transgender and non-binary people in today’s political climate and takes every available opportunity to speak at universities and to various communities on the issue.

Recent projects include an appearance on Ryan Murphy’s Emmy award winning series “Pose”, a recurring role on the CBS series “God Friended Me” and an upcoming role on the new Fox scripted drama “Deputy” She is currently recording her fifth studio album. and looks forward to breaking new ground and being a positive voice during troublesome times

SOLOMON GEORGIO

Solomon had his television debut in February 2015 as the featured comedian on CONAN, and followed it up with appearances on Drunk HistoryThe Meltdown with Jonah & KumailThis is Not Happening, Viceland’s FlophouseLast Call with Carson Daily2 Dope Queens and a second appearance on CONAN. ​On October 2017, Solomon’s first half-hour comedy special premiered on Comedy Central Stand Up Presents. His debut album with Comedy Central Records, HomoNégro Superior, is also available. As a writer, he’s written for ShrillHigh Fidelity, HBO’s CrashingAdam Ruins Everything and Spongebob Squarepants.

Pizza Mermaid swam up from the depths of the Marinaras Trench to make friends. An endlessly excitable extrovert, she quickly found her way on stages around Seattle before returning to the oceans once more. She still makes frequent visits and would love to meet you!
In the spirit of cultural exchange, Pizza Mermaid is an open book about ocean life, freely answering questions from kids and adults alike, about the wonders of the sea and mermaid culture. What she loves most is learning about life on dry land and filters her observations through a mermaid’s eye, making magic out of the mundane.

VIP RECEPTION MUSICIAN: CHAMPAGNE HONEYBEE

Champagne Honeybee is singer/ songwriter Rani Weatherby, her trusty ukuleles, and talented backing band. Their sound is a mix of contemporary jazz, blues, folk, and ukulele soul. In June of 2014, they released an EP of original music called "No Love Songs". The CD release concert packed Rock City Cafe in Snohomish. They rounded out the year playing acoustic showcases at The Benbow Room, a rockin' set at The Evergreen State Fair, funk jams at Nectar Lounge, comedy nights at The Rendezvous and Feedback Lounge, a sold out Jazz Christmas house show, and many private events
