Facilitator/Advocate for Trans Women & (C)AMAB Non-Binary People

Start Date: August 19, 2019

Hours per week: 30

Position Overview: Under the direction and guidance of the Program Manager, and with a team of volunteers & staff the Facilitator/Advocates for trans women, non-binary and other coercively assigned male at birth (CAMAB) gender variant people will each be responsible for group facilitation, outreach, and the provision of Advocacy Based Counseling to LGBTQ+ youth.

Job Description:

  • Co-facilitate weekly support groups in local middle and/or high schools for LGBTQ+ youth and their allies
  • (30%) Co-facilitate Pizza Klatch meetings at multiple school locations throughout rural and urban Thurston County
  • Maintain effective working relationships with volunteer Pizza Klatch Facilitators
  • Maintain effective working relationships with local school personnel at each of the partner sites
  • Attend monthly facilitator Deep Dish consultation meetings

The ideal candidate will (have):

  • Lived experience advocating for the rights of LGBTQ+ people of color, particularly transgender, Two-Spirit, non-binary and other gender variant people of color.
  • Lived experience supporting people with differing physical abilities and diverse cultural backgrounds, especially traditionally underserved communities, such as those marginalized by transmisogyny, transphobia, racism, ableism and classism
  • Maintain a commitment to personal and professional anti-oppression work
  • Commit to and practice self-care for the purpose of maintaining personal and professional health
  • Contribute to the development of systems that promote environment of mutual growth and accountability, where Pizza Klatch staff, volunteers, community members and those receiving services can offer constructive feedback and where each person may grow professionally and personally

Administrative Assistant / Receptionist

Position Overview: Under the direction and guidance of the Executive Director, this position will be responsible for front office management, administrative assistant and greet the public and direct clients to appropriate resources.

The ideal candidate will (have):

  • Lived experience advocating for the rights of LGBTQ+ people of color, particularly transgender, Two-Spirit, non-binary and other gender variant people of color
  • Lived experience supporting people with differing physical abilities and diverse cultural backgrounds, especially traditionally underserved communities
  • Maintain a commitment to personal and professional anti-oppression work.
  • Commit to and practice self-care for the purpose of maintaining personal and professional health.
  • Contribute to a respectful and safe environment where Pizza Klatch staff, volunteers, community members and those receiving services can offer constructive feedback and where each person may grow professionally and personally

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Facilitators (Stipend):

We’re looking for folks who are:

  • Passionate about empowering LGBTQ+ youth
  • Experienced in working with LGBTQ+ teens and/or marginalized youth
  • Available to volunteer weekly at a Thurston County High School during lunch
  • Compassionate, great listener and communicator
  • Aware of the complexity of LGBTQ+ issues in today’s society
  • Committed to anti-racism and anti-oppression work

In addition, you must meet the following requirements:

  • 21 years of age or 3 years out of high school by the time school year begins
  • Be aware that due to conflict of interest, objectivity and confidentiality, facilitators shall not facilitate groups at schools where a child, dependent or family member goes to school
  • Fill out necessary background check forms with Pizza Klatch and each school district
